the cherry on top

Do you feel better knowing where your food comes from? Me too.

I am incredibly fortunate because John not only is an amazing flower farmer, but his background is in growing vegetables. Every summer, he plants a huge garden filled with herbs, vegetables and fruit.

That garden spoils us in the very best way.

In June, we pick fresh peas and the kids sprint to the garden every afternoon to grab handfuls of strawberries warmed by the sun. Come August, I can walk outside and pick the freshest, most aromatic basil and the juiciest tomatoes. And nothing compares to 'daddy carrots' (what our kids call the carrots John grows in the garden.) In fact our kids refuse to eat carrots from the grocery store now,  so John has taken to planting an entire row of carrots so we can store them and use them all winter long.

Fresh, local produce is simply better.

Summer bouquets

Fresh flowers may not feed our stomach in the same way that carrots and potatoes, eggs and bread do, but flowers sure feed the soul.

Flowers are the cherry on top of a bag full of fresh veggies.

The shining star on the kitchen table.

The beautiful extra that makes your company smile when they walk into the guest room.

And locally grown flowers are the best of the best.

A wheelbarrow full of pink tulips

If you have ever grabbed a bouquet at the grocery store only to have it wilt and wither in a matter of days, I hear you.

If you have ever read an article about all the chemicals found on typical, commercial flowers and been appalled - I hear you too.

Our flowers are long-lasting. Our customers often tell us that our flowers last over a week with proper care.

We also care deeply about our customers and the land. We grow using sustainable practices. These practices are good not only for the flowers and the soil, but also for you.

At Brook and Blossom, we grow beautiful, seasonal flowers for our community.

Our flowers are grown with care, from our farm to your vase.

It is a true joy to grow these flowers and we hope you can enjoy them soon by taking part in our Flower CSA or picking up a bouquet our farm-based Flower Stand.

Love, your flower farmer,

Heather
